Transient Workers Count Too held our annual benefit lunch (Lunch with Heart) Sunday 13 December 2015. We sold a record 335 tickets, raising over $33,000 — also a new record.
Most well-wishers donated back their tickets so that we could invite workers on their behalf to have a good meal. A total of 100 domestic workers and 73 male workers came.
The event also commemorated International Migrants Day, for which the United Nations designates each 17 December.
Food — great buffet as it was — wasn’t the only thing on the agenda. There was entertainment, games and lucky draws.
Guest performances were contributed by the group Enigma Crew (left), and by dancer Rania Rachel (above). They both added much zest to the event. Thank you very much.
The lucky draw saw many winners, with the top prize of a $400 gift voucher going to Rizzah Rose (pic at right, holding her prize) of the Filipino Family Network.
It was also an occasion when TWC2 could recognise the signal contributions of loyal staff. Administration Officer Christine Scully (below centre) and Accounts Officer Christina Chng (below right) both received 3-year long service awards from TWC2 President Noorashikin. These were the very two officers, who, together with TWC2 Vice-President Russell Heng, worked extremely hard to bring this event into fruition.
Ticket sales were slow at the start, and in late November, we had to put out an SOS. Fortunately, many well-wishers then rallied around, and boosted sales to a new record. TWC2 is touched by the way so many stood by us, offering their support.
The event would not have been possible without a large donation too from Lee Foundation (outside of ticket sales) and a bulk order of tickets from Cargill TSF Asia Pte Ltd. Some others also donated in kind to help make the event the great success that it was. TWC2 wishes to express our deep appreciation to all our donors and supporters. Without you, the work we do to assist migrant workers facing difficulties in Singapore would not be possible.
